I just wanted to add that the POINTS have started to matter more because the lines are so much higher this year than in the past.

In previous years, there would be weeks where there would be no lines over 7. This year, there have been many weeks with multiple games with lines over 7.

Parady have given way to the HAVEs and the HAVE NOTs.

I am with you on the Jets Ace. way too good a number to pass up. Pennington is under alot of pressure this week, and if they lost this game and missed the playoffs, they would want him out. Some Qb;s fold under that pressure. I think he will thrive in it, and also I think the Jets D will help him out. The Rams had trouble with the Eagles JV team monday night, so that cant be a good sign for the Rams

I did something similar to this with baseball using the -1 1/2 line vs. the ML. It's called a "Polish Middle" (not my term for it). Certainly if you take the whole of the games played this would be an advantage to the book, they figure that in their lines. However, I believe playing selective games you could have an advantage.

If you bet teams that had less of a chance of hitting the 1- or 2-point wins you could have an advantage. One example would be to bet on teams that had a total over a certain number. Teams that have high totals have less of a tendency to win by 1 or 2 points the same way that a team that scores a lot (Boston, for example) has less of a tendency to win by only 1 run.
